Debate Chamber

PPE Weekend

Last weekend, Debate Chamber was at University College London for one of our regular PPE Weekends. The first day was spent on economics and politics, and students ended with a constitution that they had designed themselves. The second day saw a lively discussion in the Philosophy session on the issue of Utilitarianism, with most of the students present, perhaps surprisingly, finding that it was not, after all, a particularly appealing moral code.

The afternoon saw students tackling the question of poverty in Africa with some particularly innovative solutions, including bypassing governments when allocating Aid and targeting investment to micro finance. Overall the event was an enjoyable experience for both students and tutors, and an excellent preperation for university life.
