Paediatrics Masterclass

On Saturday 20th November, a group of budding medics gathered to learn about the specific area of Paediatrics. The students were introduced to congenital diseases and illnesses which children are particularly susceptible to, including measles, diphtheria, tetanus and the immunization programmes that are set up to prevent these illnesses. The group was then guided through the motor, linguistic and sensory development of neonates and learnt the reflexes that are present at birth that are then lost during infanthood. For the final session, students were presented with case studies that challenged their ‘practitioner’ skills in taking medical history, reading test results, diagnosing symptoms and recommending treatment.
