Mock Trial
An exciting introduction to the workings of the English law and the drama of the courtroom. Students will learn about will learn about the court system and the criminal justice process before taking part in a realistic trial.

Participating students will learn about:
- The difference between criminal and civil law
- Major actors in the criminal justice system
- The purpose of punishment and different sentences available
- How criminal courts function and the trial process.
Advocacy workshops will give a chance to practice effective techniques of speaking, questioning and cross-examination.
Students will then receive their briefing papers and work in teams to prepare the case for the prosecution or defence.
In the Mock Trial itself, they will have the chance to make speeches, examine witnesses and present their arguments before a judge and jury, all in full court dress of wig and gown.
