The Economy
How would you cope in the driving seat? This simulation exercise brings economics alive by putting students in charge of a national economy.
Students work in teams, each with an economy, a set of indicators and a set of tough choices to make. Through taking decisions and considering their impact on different sectors of society students will learn about:
- GDP
- Inflation
- Taxation and government spending
- Unemployment
- Interest rates
- The role of business and financial services
The course, combined with the Trade and Globalization day, covers all topics in the Global Business component of Edexcel GCSE Citizenship (The Global Village topic 3.1).
Skills
During the exercise students will use a range of information, sources and methods to enquire into problems and use a variety of media, including graphs, to explain and interpret information about the state of their economy and the impact of their policies on different groups.
