Drama Summer School
University of London Union • 9th – 13th August 2010 • ages 15-18
Whether you love to act on stage or screen, to write, produce or to direct, Debate Chamber’s Drama Summer School offers a chance to develop your skills, experiment with new techniques, and most of all to enjoy the excitement of working with other young people who share your passion.
Over five days working with professional screen and stage actors you will learn about everything from what makes a good plot, how to perform for camera, or how to impress in auditions. You will practise performing speeches and improvising dialogue, work with fellow students to devise original dramatic compositions, and take part in a theatre performance on the final evening.
Programme includes:
- learn professional techniques for improving voice projection, posture and stage presence
- screen-acting workshop and recording
- classes on improvisation and sight-reading
- devising and scripting – what are the ingredients of a good plot, and how do you turn an idea into a play?
- get advice on how to impress in auditions
- work in groups to compose, produce and perform your own work
- evening theatre performance on the final night
