During this captivating day, you’ll have the opportunity to learn some of the basic principles behind how human beings are able to sense the world outside ourselves and the ways in which our senses and nervous system may go wrong in a medical context. In addition to learning some fascinating neurology, you’ll have the opportunity to play doctor, diagnosing a variety of medical conditions through case studies and role plays. Students will carry out some of the tests that doctors may do in the hospital or a clinic to allow them to make these diagnoses.
The Debate Chamber Neurology Masterclass will be run by doctors and medical students and is ideal for any students who are thinking of a medical career or in studying neuroscience or neurobiology at university.
Course Programme 2010
The main areas that will be covered in the Neurology Masterclass are:
Vision:
Which part of the brain do you see with? What happens to your eyesight when different parts of the brain stop functioning? How can you find your blindspot?
Hearing:
What happens when your sense of hearing goes wrong? What are the main problems people encounter with their hearing?
The sense of touch:
Why does your sense of touch vary in different parts of your body? Why do we tend to rely on our sense of touch even when we doubt our other senses?
Reflexes:
How much can you control your movement? How and why do we move in ways which are totally out of our control?

The fee for the Debate Chamber Neurology Masterclass is £85. If the Neurology Masterclasss is booked together with any another medical Masterclass the cost is £155 . If three courses are booked together the cost is £195.
