Young Diplomats Conference 2010
GLOBAL SECURITY IN YOUR HANDS
23rd-24th October and repeated on 11th-12th December • 10.30 – 4.30 on each day • University of London Union
A two-day advanced course in international conflict resolution for students aged 15-18
When an international crisis breaks, it may be politicians who grab the headlines, but it is diplomats who put in the hard work to overcome conflicting economic interests and deep cultural differences to find a solution acceptable to all. When diplomacy is successful, wars and famines are prevented, diseases eradicated, and dictators removed from power without bloodshed. When diplomacy fails the consequences can be devastating. This weekend offers you the chance to learn about some of the most important challenges facing the global community today and to represent the complex interests of different regions of the world.
• Learn strategies adopted to prevent and solve international crises.
• Choose a region of the world to represent
• Work in teams to resolve disputes as they unfold
• Can you overcome clashing interests and ideals to defeat global challenges together?
The course is suitable for all students age 15-18 with an interest in politics or current affairs, and particularly for those who want to study Politics or International Relations, or anyone interested in a career in the diplomatic service.
